After impressive results in the treatment of neonatal RDS, the use of surfactant has been proposed in several forms of lung pathology in infants and children. Several lung pathologies have been more widely investigated, such as meconium aspiration syndrome, CDH, inhalation syndrome, pneumonia, bronchiolitis and ARDS from different origins. New applications, e.g. in thoracic trauma and inhalation syndrome, are under investigation, with encouraging results.
